Member Confirmation Process

Hello all,

We have started our external audit process, including sending out confirmations to members. Unfortunately for the past two years we have had members become upset when they receive a confirmation letter including their account information. Our external auditors do not send the full account number or any other PPI in the letter other than the balance but our members are concerned it is a fraudulent request. 

Has anyone had any success putting specific items in the confirmation letters or completing some form of pre-communcation to members alerting them to the potential of receiving a confirmation request? We have tried both but thus far they have been unsuccessful.

If not, has anyone found a streamlined process to send and receive confirmation letters we can recommend to our external auditors? Any tips or recommendations would be helpful.
