  • Western Union and Remittance Transfer Rule

    UPDATEI removed the Western Union contact/information request - we finally have a 'real' person contact.  Would like to know how other CUs are planning to handle international wire transfers - especially disclosures, exchange rates, taxes, fees, and if there will be a limit on the amount due to errors and 'sender' liability.  (I know the CFPB stated the agency would revisit the liaibility issue, but in the event they do not change the rule, would like to know how other CUs are planning to address that issue.)  Thank you!!heidin@fortbraggfcu.org

    For those of you who make MBL loans:

    1. What are your requirements for environmental inspections on commercial mortgages?
    2. Do you require them at all?
    3. If so, do they need to be completed for all such mortgages? 
    4. If there are exceptions when one is not required, what are they?
    5. If there are situations which trigger a Phase 1 vs. a TSP, for example, what are they?

    We are approx $385M and have 105 full time and 25 part-time employees.  I am interested to know the numbers for other CUs that are similar in size.  (I'm thinking in the current economic environment we have too many folks....not nearly as much 'foot traffic' as we once had)  Thank you.  I failed to include that we have 5 branches - all within a ten mile radius. I really appreciate all the feedback thus far.  (We are entirely overstaffed.....again, in my humble opinion)

     I was asked by my VP of Lending to see if I could find the answer to the following question: Are there any states that allow State Chartered Credit Union's to originate commercial loans with a term greater than 15 years? If you have any information, I would appreciate you sharing it.  Thank you,  Michelle
